Bobcats Win on the Road; Knicks Answer Back; Mavs Hold Off Bucks’ Comeback
Stephen Jackson and the Bobcats answered the call winning a huge game in overtime on the road against the Suns. Jackson tied the game at 98 with a three pointer over Steve Nash with 19 seconds left in the game. The Suns had a chance to win in regulation when Nash drove and kicked out to a well guarded Jared Dudley. Dudley’s contested jump shot hit the back iron, forcing overtime. In overtime Jackson, who scored 30 points in the game, continued to dominate scoring 9 of the first 12 points for the Bobcats. Raymond Felton also stepped it up in the extra period scoring six of his 17 points. Boris Diaw played the type of game many feel he should play day in and day out against his former team. Diaw finished 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists in the ball game. Gerald Wallace did his part too putting up 21 points and 9 rebounds. Steve Nash scored 23 points and dished out 9 assists in the loss. Channing Frye, who lost is starting role to Robin Lopez, responded hitting four three-pointers and finishing with 20 points off the bench. The Bobcats were able to hold Amare Stoudemire to 12 points which ultimately helped them win.
Knicks 132, Timberwolves 105
The New York Knicks must have listened to Shooter call them out after losing by 50 points to the Mavs at home by opening up to a 40 to 16 lead against the struggling Timberwolves. Wilson Chandler scored 12 of his 20 points in the first period. David Lee continued his All-Star campaign by scoring 28 points (13-17 from the field) and pulling down 10 rebounds. Al Harrington had a double-double as well scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The only bright spot for the Timberwolves was the play of Corey Brewer and Ramon Sessions. Brewer scored 22 points on 90% shooting for the game. Sessions also put up 20 points, but when your franchise player, Al Jefferson, scores 4 points, you are in for a long night.
Mavs 108, Bucks 107
As much as the Bucks have struggled on a road this year, they gave the Dallas Mavericks everything they could handle in a 108 to 107 loss. Carlos Delfino (22 points) hit four threes in the game, but none were bigger than the one his hit from 27 feet away to cut the Mavericks lead to one with under thirty seconds left in the game. The Bucks then forced a Dirk Nowitzki turnover and quickly called a timeout with three seconds left. Off the timeout, Carlos Delfino came off of a screen, drove to the whole, and missed a runner as time expired. Andrew Bogut gave the Mavericks fits scoring 32 points on 13 of 14 shooting. Dirk led the Mavericks with 28 points and now starter, Jason Terry, put in 21 of his own. Jason Kidd had another Kidd-esque game scoring 11 points, handing out 12 assists, and grabbing 4 rebounds. The Dallas Mavericks tied the NBA record of 10 consecutive one point with tonight’s victory.
Lakers 115, Wizards 103
The Wizards were able to hang tough falling behind by one point after Kobe sank a fifteen footer at the end the first quarter. From there on out the Wizards struggled as Kobe and Pau Gasol both went off for 26 points in a 115 to 103 Lakers’ win. Lamar Odom chipped going 15 and 8. Antwan Jamison played well scoring 27 points and having 9 rebounds. Mike Miller also added 15 for the Wizards who are not only having a disappointing season off the court, but on the court as well.
With Kevin Martin continuing to play awful coming back from injury, Beno Udrih picked up Martin’s slack scoring 24 points off the bench in the Kings 99 to 96 win against the Warriors. Kevin Martin had his third straight game scoring 5 points and is a combined 3 for 23 in these three games. Tyreke Evans had 23 points and 6 rebounds in the win. Fellow rookie, Stephen Curry, dropped 27 points including a four point play to help lead the Warriors comeback. Curry also had 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Corey Maggette hit 13 of his 16 free throws, but shot 3 of 22 in his 19 point game.
