Arenas & Crittenton Suspended for Remainder of Year
Gilbert Arenas met with Commisionner David Stern today face-to-face for the first time since being suspended indefinitely.
Entering the meeting, Arenas had anticipated to be suspended for the remainder of the season, and that was exactly the punishment that he recieved. Stern was quoted as saying, “The issue here is not about the legal ownership and possession of guns, either in one’s home or elsewhere. It is about possession of guns in the NBA workplace, which will not be tolerated.”
He continued, stating, “I have met separately with Mr. Arenas and with Mr. Crittenton. Both have expressed remorse for their actions and an understanding of the seriousness of their transgressions. Both have volunteered to engage in community service in order to turn the lessons they have learned into an educational message for others. I accept fully the sincerity of their expressions of regret and intent to create something positive from this incident.”
Reports state that Arenas won’t appeal the decision, as he now will wait until March to be sentenced after pleading guilty to the gun possession offense earlier this month. What the future holds for Arenas and Crittenton remains to be seen. The biggest issue now will be whether or not Washington will be able to void the rest of Gilbert Arenas’ huge contract.
Do you agree with the length of the suspension? Do you think he’ll ever return as a Wizard?

He won’t be a Wizard, and whether or not Washington voids his contract remains to be seen.
Oddly enough, I’m wondering if his contract will be shopped around the league during the offseason, especially for a team that lost out on the Lebron-fest and is willing to take on a MAX contract and Agent Zero’s reputation.
For some odd reason, and I just have the strangest feeling about this, but if the Knicks lose out on Lebron, does Agent Zero prevent Knick fans from burning their season tickets for the next 5 years?
DISCUSS!
WOW!
I think you’re right on about the Knicks dude. If they can’t a big name player, they’ll definitely make the move for Arenas. He fits the high octane offense mold as well. Good Call!!! With points like that, we might need a message board! Haha.
I could totally see the Knicks going after Arenas. NY doesn’t care about guns haha
We should definitely get a message board! I thought I read something about the Wizards not being able to void the contract and obviously there was NBA rules about why that I don’t recall now.
Arenas is such a joke of a player. Finally a season when he is healthy and he just wastes it away with guns.
Ok the rule is you can’t punish a player for the same action in the same season by the NBA and the team. The cancelation of the contract won’t likely pass through arbitration. It seems like a trade or buyout is most likely to happen.
Arenas is going to lose $157,000 per game. Damn.

Plaxico?????
Give me mine.
I was thinking last night after I watched an interview with David Stern on NBAtv that I love David Stern because he makes a move like this.
It’s great that he won’t take any grief from anyone that kills the image of the NBA.
Wow I was totally being facetious
No, no Shooter, Mike got you… Give him his.
