Bobcats Win in Wild Finish, Hawks Part of Magic Disappearing Act, Knicks Fall to Houston
The Grizzlies let win #19 slip away. The Bobcats are a great home team and they showed it tonight after by down by double digits at the half they came back to get the big W. It was a very exciting finish, the Bobcats were up 3 on a huge shot by Felton and after a Bobcats turnover Rudy Gay got SWATTED by Gerald Wallace to create the turnover but the following possession OJ Mayo hit a 3 to tie the score at 87. Felton drove down, took a layup and as the buzzer sound Gerald Wallace followed with a tip in for the win! Two young teams just going at it, solid game.
Magic 113, Hawks 81
Well, the Hawks found themselves down by 29… at halftime, and this one was basically over before it began. The Magic ended their losing skid and the Hawks proved they need to toughen up on the road. The Magic were Vince-Carterless and still dominated.
The Magic had 7 players in double figures including a team high 18 from Matt Barnes and a team high 12 rebounds from Gortat. Al Harford was the leading scorer for the Hawks and no one on the team had more than 7 rebounds. Not to mention the Hawks shot 39% for the game, that will NOT earn you a W on the road that’s fo’ sho’.
Clown of the game: Joe Johnson. He was 2-9 from the field and while he was on the floor the Hawks were -32, ouch.
Sixers 104, Pistons 94
Yes, the Sixers won on the road. No, they did not beat a good team. Elton Brand led the Sixers with 25 points as he continues to come off the bench. The Pistons absolutely suck and as I recall the Ref LOVED the Pistons play some 4 weeks ago, I knew that type of play wasn’t going to last. I love the fact that the Pistons went out and spent tons of money on Gordon and Villanueva and BOTH of them come off the bench, seriously? On a side note, Ben Gordon scored the 10,000,000th point in the history of the NBA during the regular season.
Clown of the game: Rip Hamilton. Rip was 6-22 with 12 points and 4 turnovers. I refuse to watch the Pistons when they are on TV (which may not have even happened at all this year) so I’m not sure but does he still wear that stupid mask? God I hate that.
The Bulls “Bigs” outplayed the T-Wolves “Bigs” and that was the key to this game. Noah scored 20 points, pulled down 9 rebounds while Gibson had 13 points and 9 rebounds. On the T-Wolves side Jefferson had 12 and 8 while Love had 9-10. The Bulls were very efficient on the night shooting 52% from the field and were 7-14 from the 3-point line.
Clown of the game: Wayne Ellington. The Rookie from UNC was 1-7 from the field and he had just 3 points. He really hasn’t play to his potential and has been a bit of a disappointment.
Thunder 108, Pacers 102
Kevin Durant, unstoppable again. He went off for 40 for the 2nd time in as many weeks. KD was 12-18 from the field and 14-16 from the charity stripe. He and the Thunder are playing extrememly well right now and have the best record the Thunder have had in franchise history at 20-16.
As for the Pacers, AJ Price had a career game with 23 points in 24 minutes. Troy Murphy is back from injury and he had a double-double with 15-15.
Clown of the game: Danny Granger. He must still be shaking the rust off, he shot 6-21 on the night. He’s also a clown for returning earlier than expected in a wasted and lost Pacers season. I just hope he doesn’t hurt himself.
Jazz 111, Mavs 93
The Jazz took it to the Mavs on their own court on the night the Cowboys played the Eagles in Dallas as well. Great, now we have to listen to Mark Cuban bitch even more, should be fun. Despite Dirk’s 29 points and J Kidd’s 19-8 performance the Jazz won pretty easily. The Jazz’s bench had another great night scoring 45 points.
Clown of the game: Tim Thomas. He was a clown tonight, just like his entire career.
Rockets 105, Knicks 96
If Tracy McGrady was lurking in the Houston crowd he got a first hand glimpse of his potential team, the Knicks, for the rest of the year. David Lee had another great game for the Knicks with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Nate Robinson also had a good game scoring 20 points on 7-13 shooting.
For the Rockets, Carl Landry and Kyle Lowry combined for 30 points as the Rockets shot 49% from the field. They also took care of the ball extremely well by committing just 10 turnovers for the game as they ended their 3-game losing streak.
Clown of the game: Jared Jeffries. Not because he was 4-10 with 12 points but because he took 10 shots; he knows better than that. He’s not good enough to take 10 shots.
Carmelo Anthony is still out for the Nuggets but JR Smith is still coming off the bench. I’m not really sure of George Karl’s method here? When you are missing your 30 ppg scorer why not put in automatic offense from the start?
Tyreke Evans continues to impress and had his best game since returning from injury with 27 points. John Brockman got the nod to start and had 12 rebounds (7 offensive) despite his 2-9 shooting performance. Omri Casspi continues to impress scoring 16 points and snagging 8 rebounds in the start. It was a solid home win for the Kings, who pulled within 6 games of .500 at 15-21.
Clown of the game: Jason Thompson. He had 5 points and 5 boards in 21 minutes of play including 4 fouls.
