Smooth as the Other Side of the Pillow
My boy Ray Allen has done it! He surpassed 20,000 big ones with 18 on Thursday against the Washington Wizards in a big win for the Celtics to continue their 9-game winning streak. Allen, in his 14th season, continues to play at a high level and as his biggest fan; I could not be prouder. His next career achievement, besides another NBA Championship, is breaking Reggie Miller’s three point record (2,596) Allen is at 2,301, including Thursday’s performance, and if he can stay healthy, he will definitely break the record. Ray-Ray has been underrated throughout his career. Well, until last year’s superb and clutch play in the playoffs. With that, everybody is starting to realize that he is just as clutch as ‘Big Shot’ Robert Horry, Kobe ‘The Best Closer in Basketball’ Bryant, LeBron ‘The King’ James, and Miller himself.
In case you think I am being biased with that, let me give you some knowledge: According to NBA.com, Ray Allen has made more go ahead or game tying shots in the fourth quarter than anybody in the league since 2003. He even proved it on Thursday. In the turning point of the game, Allen drained a huge 3 late in the fourth quarter to give the C’s the lead right after Gilbert Arenas gave the Wizards their first lead since the second quarter, and all of the momentum switched to the home team. Ha, Ray loves to be The Silencer.
But to be honest, even with all this hoopla, I am more pumped up by another thing that happen on Thursday. In a drive in the second quarter, Allen came down on a fast break with the Wizards D refusing to pick him up. Mr. Allen, being the gentleman he is, accepted the invitation and dunked over Andrey Blatche, who tried to come over at the last second and stop ‘Poetry in Motion’. Maybe Blatche should have taken the Road More Taken By, because instead, you’ve been POSTERIZED.

Ray-Ray doesn’t usually dunk anymore, but when he does, it is Thunderous.
This is The Ref signaling I’m out until next time and remember: We miss calls, you miss layups.

[...] Smooth As The Other Side Of The Pillow: As much as I hate that the title reminds me of one of Stuart Scott’s played-out catchphrases, The Ref from NBA Today Dot Net gives love to Ray Allen. He gives him props not only for his clutch play but for his DUNK over Andray Blatche. [...]
