Short-handed Celts No Match for Suns; Hornets Hold Off Late Heat Surge; Jazz Barely Beat T-Wolves; Blazers and 76ers Win
Suns 116, Celtics 98
No Paul Pierce, no Kevin Garnett, big problem. The Celtics, without two of their big three, were no match for the run and gun Suns. Amare Stoudemire had a big first half scoring 18 of his 26 points while grabbing 7 rebounds in the process. Channing Frye provided the second half spark scoring 26 points, as well shooting a red hot six of ten from downtown, and grabbing ten rebounds. Steve Nash had a quiet night scoring 11 points and dishing out 8 dimes.
Eddie House led the Celtics with 19 points off the bench. Rajon Rondo had 13 points and 8 assists in the losing effort. Ray Allen, the only member of the Boston Three-Party left, finished with 15 points on an abysmal four of thirteen from the field. Although hurt, the Celtics are struggling, losing their third game in a row.
Hornets 95, Heat 91
Chris Paul and David West both played solid again, but this time they had help from their supporting cast to earn a 95 to 91 victory against the Heat. Paul razzled and dazzled scoring 18 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. He hit a few tough shots including banking a 30 footer as the shot clock expired in the second half. David West had another double-double going 21 and 10. Emeka Okafor had a big game scoring 15 points and pulling down 14 rebounds (7 offensive rebounds). The Heat were led by Dwyane Wade’s 22 points but it was not enough. Wade also committed a game high six turnovers.
Jazz 107, T-Wolves 103
Deron Williams scored 21 points and dished out 12 assists as the Jazz escaped Minnesota with a 107-103 win. Ronnie Brewer also played solid scoring 20 points and recording four steals. Carlos Boozer also had a double-double (16 points and 12 rebounds) to help pitch in the Jazz victory. Second year players Kevin Love finished one assist shy of a triple-double piling up 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. Al Jefferson played solid scoring 21 points and getting 9 rebounds. It is good to see Minnesota playing competitive basketball as of late.
Blazers 103, Clippers 99
The injury bug continues for the Portland Trailblazers as they lose LaMarcus Aldridge to an ankle injury six minutes into tonight’s game. Brandon Roy picked up the slack by scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Martell Webster added 15 points and rookies Jeff Pendregraph and Dante Cunningham both had 8 points each in the win. Eric Gordon shot 8 of 11, finishing with 24 points. Baron Davis had a double-double dishing out 11 assists, but had an awful shooting night going 2-12. Has anyone else noticed how well Chris Kaman has been playing this season? Tonight he had 25 points on 12 of 19 shooting and pulled down 9 rebounds.
76ers 116, Kings 106
The 76ers win again behind Lou W”ill”iams’ 22 points and Allen Iverson’s 2o. Andre Iguodala also had a solid night scoring 19 points, dishing out 9 assists, and grabbing 7 rebounds. Lou Williams played forty minutes and I am so excited that he back from his broken jaw. The Sixers won their second game in a row and seem to be playing well. With Evans out again, Omari Casspi led the Kings with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Donte Green also finished with 21 Jason Thompson’s double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds) helped keep the Kings in this game.

Lou Will and A.I. in the backcourt together was a matchup problem for the Kings. I noticed the Sixers played a good amount of zone too.
