Ray Allen Hits the 20K Club, Rondo Seals the Deal
Ray Allen hit the landmark, but Rondo’s dunk gave the Celtics a lead they would not relinquish in the final minute of play.
Allen became the 32nd player in NBA history to score 20,000 points after drilling a 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter. Ironically enough, Paul Pierce eclipsed the 19,000 point mark himself on the same night, scoring 12 points.
But the real spectacle of the night was watching Boston grind out another road win, putting their away record at 10-1 on the season. Celtics looked very much in sync tonight, and they were able to lean on each other at the end to get the W. I’m very impressed with how this ball club has been playing as of late.
Big nights for both Rondo and Kendrick Perkins, who both tallied double doubles in the win. The Celtics also had all 5 starters in double figures.
Gilbert Arenas led the Wizard’s second half comeback by scoring 25 points, but could not equalize the game from the foul line (see HRBL) with less than a minute to go. The Wizards also could not capitalize on solid performances by Brendan Haywood (7/7 FG) and Andray Blatche (17 points in 22 minutes off the bench).
INCRBL – I saw this from NBA.com – according to STATs inc, the Wizards did not have an individual rebound in the second quarter. That’s just ridiculous!
TRBL – Gilbert Arenas – Hit your foul shots! High school teams around the country would be running until they puked if they shot free throws like you did tonight. 1/6 from the line isn’t going to cut it.
