Pau Gasol still had this year and one more year left on his contract until he becomes a free agent, but he signed an extension with the Lakers on Wednesday.  The extension is for 3 years and Gasol will be under contract until the 2013-2014 season with the Lakers.  The contract is believed to be worth at least $60 million, possibly more and it is well deserving.  Pau Gasol is making $17 million next year so it isn’t too much more for such a game changing, dominant player.  Since returning from injury this year the Lakers are 15-1 with him and since joining the Lakers almost 2 years ago they are 101-23 in regular season games with 2 NBA Finals appearances and 1 NBA Championship. 

I always thought Pau Gasol was underrated because he played for some BAD Memphis teams.  I always said if I was 6’10″ I would definitely model my game off Gasol; he is finesse around the basket in the post and a tough low post defender at the same time.  For his career, he is avergaing 18.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 1.7 bpg.  Gasol is the reason the Lakers won the championship last year, flat out.
