Knicks Stop Losing Streak at 5; Boston Wins Easily; Wizards Knock Off Raptors
Knicks 126, Suns 99
At Madison Square Garden the Knicks (4-14) came out hot and give the Suns (14-4), who had the best record in the NBA, a 126-99 loss. Danilo Galinari led the Knicks with 27 points and 10 rebounds. He was an impressive 6-12 from behind the arc. David Lee and Al Harrington also scored in double figures, scoring 24 points and 22 points respectively. Lee and Harrington both grabbed 8 rebounds in the winning effort.
Steve Nash was the only bright spot for Suns scoring 20 points and dishing out 8 assists. Jason Richardson and Amare Stoudemire also scored in double digits but it was not nearly enough. The Suns came out lethargic and were down by 10 at the end of the first quarter. For Suns fans hopefully this game will be a wake up call.
JB’s Hustle Hero of the Game: Jared Jefferies. It is hard for me not to laugh as I mention Jefferies for this award. Danilo Galinari, Al Harrington, Larry Hughes, and David Lee all could have received this award, but I’ll give Jefferies the nod. In 26 minutes he scored 1o points, grabbed 5 offensive rebounds, had 4 assists, blocked 4 shots, and recorded 1 steal. If he plays games like this where he can fill the stat sheet, he might actually be able to contribute when he is on the floor.
Celtics 108, Bobcats 90
In another game that was not close, the Celtics (14-4) easily halted the Bobcats (7-10) winning streak with a 108-90 win. Ray Allen hit 5 three pointers on his way to scoring 27 points. Kendrick Perkins also had a solid game hitting 9 of his 10 shots, scoring 21 points. Perkins also had 12 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The Celtics defense suffocated the Bobcats, helping them open up a 62-39 halftime lead. Nazr Mohammed was the high man for the Bobcats scoring 16 points. Gerald Wallace had an off night scoring 5 points on 1 of 6 shooting. He did pull down 8 rebounds.
JB’s Hustle Hero of the Game: Kendrick Perkins. This guy tonight was a monster around the basket. He only missed one shot all night. He was the only player to to record double digits in rebounds with 12 and he led the game with 3 blocks.
Wizards 106, Raptors 102
Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas stepped up and helped the Wizards (6-10), who were down five points going into the 4th quarter, pull out a 106-102 victory against the Raptors (7-12). Jamison scored 30 points and had 12 rebounds while hitting some big shots throughout the game. Arenas, who has been struggling as of late, had 22 points and 9 assists in the win.
Chris Bosh dropped 22 points albeit on 7-22 shooting. He also remained a beast on the boards snatching 14 rebounds in the game. Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon both scored 20 points in the loss. Jarrett Jack continued his stellar play off the bench netting 18 points.
JB’s Hustle Hero of the Game: Antawn Jamison. There are not many other players in the league playing better than Jamison at the moment. He is currently averaging 22 points and 9 rebounds a game this year. If he continues to stay healthy and this Washington team starts to click, opponents better watch out.
