Iverson’s Return Spoiled by Former Team, Knicks Roll…Again?
In what could be said as a very emotional return to Philidelphia for Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups did everything in his power to ruin it. Despite a sold out Wachovia center, and AI version 2 (Andre Iguodala) playing out of his mind with 31 points of his own, the 76ers lost their 10th straight.
Billups tore up the court, scoring 31 points on 8-15 shooting. That includes going 4-6 from the 3 point line. The backcourt speed of the Nuggets proved to be too much, and a 14-0 run at the end of the 3rd put this one just out of reach.
In my opinion, Sixers fans – give it time. AI just has to get adjusted to playing back in Philly, and hopefully he can help them get off yet another bad start to the season. I also have to admit, I haven’t seen the Sixers play with that much fire all season. Still have a long way to go.
INCRBL stat line: Samuel Dalembert – 6 Blocks…in the FIRST HALF. Sadly, that’s probably the best performance a Seton Hall player has had in the NBA in…a very long time.
Knicks 93, TrailBlazers 84
Wait…the Knicks have won 3 straight?
Despite a valiant comeback effort by the depleted Blazers, the Knicks were up 78-55 at the end of the 3rd quarter and never relinquished the lead. Brandon Roy led the comeback effort, and finished with 27 points in 40 minutes. LaMarcus Aldridge also chipped in big with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Larry Hughes was scorching hot off the bench, contributing 21 points in 30 minutes of action. Gallinari also played very well, including knocking down 3 of 7 from the 3 point line. David Lee also posted yet another double-double with 17 points and 10 boards.
I think one thing you can note about this Knicks team is just that – they are playing like a team. Its nice to see the chemistry finally working together – as the Knicks have now won 4 of their last 5 games.
HRBL – Blazers 3pt shooting – 12.5%
Thunder 104, Warriors 88
The Thunder were led by James Hardens career high 26 and beat down the Warriors in Oklahoma City last night. Kevin Durant also added 28 of his own to contribute to the W.
The Thunder now move to 11-9 while they have won four out of their last six games. Harden who played his best game by far as a pro also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists.
The Warriors lost their fourth consecutive game. Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry were the only real bright spots for the Warriors as they combined for 53 of the teams 88 points.
Jazz 104, Spurs 101
The Spurs went to Matt Bonner with the game on the line. Just plain stupid.
Yes, he had 28 points and was four of seven from downtown but down by one with seconds left he is one of the last people on that team I would want to attempt a drive and an off balance floater… so this one is on Greg Popovich.
Deron Williams had two of his 17 when he hit a huge shot with 22 ticks left on the clock to give the Jazz the lead and eventually the game. Carlos Boozer led the way for the Jazz with 27 points and seven boards.
The Jazz also had six of their eight men in the game score double figures.
Tim Duncan put up his usual 23 and 11 but was really outplayed all night by the likes of Boozer and Paul Millsap. Manu Ginobili and Richard Jefferson both had very poor nights combining for 12 points.

I am going to have disagree with you there. You always feed the hot hand. Poppavich has done this for years, and look where that got the Spurs. That’s what makes the TEAM dangerous, anyone can beat you. I have seen Roger Mason, Matt Bonner, George Hill and other role players make game winning shots. It makes it really hard for the defense because most teams go to their star players instead of who is producing at the time. Poppavich is the master at this.
