Greg Oden Out for the Year; Turner Out 8 Weeks
Portland Trail Blazer’s center Greg Oden is likely done for the year, again, with a fractured left patella. Oden jumped up on Saturday to block a layup attempt by Aaron Brooks of the Rockets and when he planted and jumped that is when the fracture occurred. He never made contact with Brooks according to the replay. Oden went down immediately and you just KNEW it was going to be bad.
This will make the 2nd time in his 3 year career that Oden will miss the entire season; his rookie year he missed the entire year due to micro-fracture surgery on his right knee and now Oden will miss the rest of the year after playing just 1/4 of the season. In addition to those two seasons Oden missed 21 games last year as well.
Oden was developing very nicely this year averaging 11.8 ppg and 8 rpg along with 2.4 bpg. Oden was the number 1 pick just three years ago and his career has failed miserably and I feel bad for the guy. He has great potential and I don’t even want to use the word potential because he has already show how good he can be but he just never stays healthy.
Normally I wouldn’t report about a college injury but because Greg Oden went to Ohio State and this news is about Evan Turner of Ohio State I figured why not. Evan Turner will miss the next 8 weeks due to some fractured vertebrae he suffered while attempting a monster uncontested dunk. Turner fell from the rim right to the floor and landed directly on his back. This is a huge blow to Ohio State and I hope he gets well soon. Turner was a guaranteed lottery pick this year and already has two triple-doubles on the young college season.

Unbelievable what happened to Oden. Of his first 3 seasons now, he will have only played in 81 games. The 2007 draft is looking more and more like the 1984 Sam Bowie fiasco.
