DJ Mbenga an All-Star?
With the All-Star game two months away, the NBA just released its first official All-Star balloting totals. Kobe led all voters with over 690,000 votes. Surprisingly enough, Tracy McGrady had the second highest votes for a guard in the West with 280,000 votes. T-Mac had more votes than Steve Nash, Chris Paul, and Jason Kidd. This got me thinking; who in their right mind would vote for T-Mac ahead of any guard who has played at least one game this year, let alone 280,000?
If T-Mac can be in the running for an All-Star appearance, why can’t Lakers backup center, DJ Mbenga? I found this post on one of my favorite sites, Niketalk, started by ShoEPimP702. He urged fans to start voting for DJ Mbenga, aka Congo Cash, via the internet or by texting in their votes. Who could blame him, with Pau Gasol injured and Andrew Bynum missing a few games at the start of the season, Mbenga stepped in. Mbenga had 5 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks against the Grizzlies. The next night he had 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks against the Hornets.
DJ Mbenga has an ill fadeaway from five feet away from the basket. Some people even think Mbenga taught Kobe his patented shot, which Kobe now uses on the regular. Still not convinced? Check out this fan made highlight reel of Congo Cash himself:
Get out there and vote for DJ Mbenga. You can have a write in player on NBA.com ballot. Just make sure search for his full name, Didier Ilunga-Mbenga. You can also spread the word on twitter by getting others to vote. Follow @MrUntalented and his #voteDJMbenga4AllStar tag.
Also check out CongoCash.org, and order one of these shirts. Half of the money made from each t-shirt sold goes to help small business in third world countries, specifically in Congo. Just one more reason to vote for Didier.

lets all vote dj mbenga in folks. we can do this!
I vote on the daily.
I am greatly disturbed by this post.
Please don’t hate on DJ Mbenga, mister referee
TAKE THE ALL-STAR VOTING OUT OF THE HANDS OF THE FANS FOR ALL!!! SPORTS…I’ve been saying this for many, many years now and it’s only getting worse. And, YES, I KNOW THAT ALL-STAR GAMES ARE FOR THE FANS, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE SHOULD ALLOW RIDICULOUS FAN CHOICES TO CONTINUE TO START IN ANY RESPECTIVE ALL-STAR EXTRAVAGANZA. Amen.
MartyDad for president. Thank you sir, I have been saying that for years.
I will be still voting for DJ Mbenga. Just think about it, it if wasn’t for DJ and Jordan Farmer thousands of Lakers fans would be without free tacos.
