What I’m Thankful For…
With today being Thanksgiving many people, including myself, will sit down for a Thanksgiving dinner with family members and friends. We will remember the things we are thankful for in our lives, and in this post I would like to talk about some of the things I am thankful after the first month of this season.
1. Thundercats are Winning. The Thunder are currently 8-7 and have won some big games on the road, including one last night against the Utah Jazz. Kevin Durant has been playing like a monster. Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook have been playing solid to complete Oklahoma City’s big 3. James Harden has been getting better and better as the season has gone along and I’m excited to see how Serge Ibaka, a 20 year old from Africa, progresses this season. These guys are fun to watch and be sure to follow the big three on twitter (@KevinDurant35, @Jeff_Green22, @jHard13).
Also check out the Thunder play against the Bucks on Friday night at 8:30 on ESPN.
2. The Suns are Back! Any time I see that the Suns are on television I make sure to catch their game. Without getting into stats, Steve Nash is having an incredible year and Grant Hill seems to get finer with age just like wine. Amare Stoudemire is destroying opponents and Jason Richardson is being the scorer that the Suns need. Channing Frye may be running away with the Most Improved Player Award by having career highs in just about every statistical category while developing into a sharp shooter from behind the arc.
3. Point Guard Play. Steve Nash. Chris Paul. Deron Williams. Dwyane Wade (I consider him a PG). Chauncey Billups. Jason Kidd. Tony Parker. Lou Williams. Russell Westbrook. Derrick Rose. Monta Ellis. Brandon Jennings. Johnny Flynn. Tyreke Evans. Ty Lawson. Gilbert Arenas. From veteran to rookies, these points guards listed and more have been getting it done. I am excited to see these players continue to play well along with Devin Harris, who just returned from injury.
4. Rookies Being Awesome. Tyreke Evens and Omari Casspri playing well in Sacramento. Ty Lawson learning under the tutelage of Chauncey Billups. Terrence Williams continuing to improve in New Jersey. Johnny Flynn trying to be a leader in Minnesota. James Harden coming off the bench for the Thunder. Stephen Curry knocking down big shots for Golden State. Darren Collison picking up the slack with CP3 hurt. Finally, the rookie that has had me so pumped whenever I can watch his team play on NBAtv or on the internet, Brandon Jennings. Jennings is averaging 25 points a game as a rookie. My friend and fellow writer, G, wrote an article talking about Jennings playing overseas. Jennings was criticized for leaving the United States to play in Italy for a year before entering the draft. In Italy, he was not treated like a superstar, like he would have in the United States. He struggled and instead of giving up, Jennings sucked it up and stuck through it. It is now paying off big time. He is so fun to watch especially when he pulls up in the lane and floats the ball over the opposing center for two. I would be even more thankful if the Knicks drafted him instead of Jordan Hill. If they did that I would be going to Madison Square Garden once a week to watch him play.
5. Chuck and the Rest of the TNT Crew. TNT’s big 3 of Chuck, Ernie, and Kenny are hilarious to watch. G and I often agree that they are the funniest thing on television. I look forward to every Thursday night because I get to hear great insight about basketball while also getting a laugh at the same time. I mean how could you not laugh at this:
6. Allen Iverson. With the news today about Allen Iverson retiring, I am truly saddened. He may have had off the court issues but this guy may be the best 6 footer to every play in the NBA. He won 4 scoring titles and single handily took the Sixers to the finals. AI made cornrow and rocking a shooting sleeve cool. I have a feeling that he will be back at some point if a playoff team needs a boost, but we will have to wait and see. If not I want to say Thank You AI for breaking peoples ankles and showing that anything is possible. Even this:

well done. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
