T-Mac Blows Up on Adelman
Tracy McGrady is NOT happy about sitting on the bench, inactive for the Rockets over the last couple of days. McGrady said a couple weeks ago he planned to be ready on the 18th of November and that time has come and gone without seeing McGrady in a Rockets uniform… sort of.
Last night, despite knowingly being on the inactive list, McGrady wore his Rockets uniform and went through his normal pregram routines as if he were about to play. McGrady has now sat out 42 consecutive games dating back to last year because of the micofracture surgery he had on his knee.
McGrady and Adelman were shouting behind closed doors in the locker room because of the dispute about whether or not Tracy should be activated. Adelman and the Rockets are saying they won’t even consider playing him until he has his MRI which is scheduled for Monday. McGrady is getting the feeling that the Rockets don’t want to play him and I get that feeling too. McGrady will be off the books after this year and believe it or not he is the highest played player in the NBA today with a salary of just over $23 million per year.
I believe it’s a mistake for the Rockets to not let him play. Despite what many may think, McGrady is still just 30 years old and has a lot of basketball left in the tank when he is actually on the court. Some say the Rockets are holding out due to the Temporary Total Disability insurance policy. If a player sits more than 41 games consecutively, then that team will receive 80% of the per game pro-rated salary of McGrady. Either way, this situation its a sticky one and I’m glad I don’t have to be a part of it.

McGrady and Kevin Martin should have tea together. They have so much in common.
I can’t believe McGrady is only 30!!! He has the back of a 83 year old!
T-Mac needs to relax. Most players “feel” they’re ready to play. Duh. Why not wait a few days until you get that MRI. Once he’s medically cleared to play, Adelman will play him. Then you can refer to my original comment under the original T-Mac post with how I think it’ll play out lol:

THE ROCKETS ARE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE,IF THEY THINK THEY ARE A PLAYOFF TEAM WITHOUT TRACY MCGRADY,THEY ARE SADLY MISTAKEN.I THINK THIS IS A SITUATION WHERE RICK ADELMAN THINKS THIS IS ALL ABOUT HIM.THE ROCKETS HAVE JUST LOST 2 GAMES IN A ROW.LET ME REMIND YOU TRACY MCGRADY AVG.15PTS LAST YEAR IN 35 GAMES,ON A BAD LEG.WE NOW HAVE ONLY 2 PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM WHO AVG. OVER 15PTS,ON TWO GOOD LEGS.SO GIVE ME A BREAK!
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4675855 I don’t know what to believe. Supposedly, the shouting match didn’t happen.
Regardless of what happened, T-Mac will have to wait.
Your right Rey-Rey… He will have to wait…only time will tell.
Warf- THe Rockets have 6 guys who average 10 points or more a game and this team took the Lakers to seven games without Yao and Tracy McGrady. McGrady is done, and he will never be half of what he used to be since he cannot stay healthy. This team has illustrated the ability to compete with the league’s best and win on the road…in the Western Conference. McGrady is not going to change anything, he may make it worse if he does.
I disagree Ref. You can’t say T-Mac is bad and he won’t help the team. Any time you add a player of his calibur, whether he is injury prone or not, he will improve your team. They need a leader on the floor and Tracy is that guy. Yeah he may not get you 25 points a night anymore but he knows how to manage a game and will definitely help this team late in games.
This team has proved that they don’t need him anymore, and when you bring a player like Tracy McGrady, the chemistry is altered. In that change, comes a period of adaptation and that will affect the Rockets ability to win. McGrady’s health is a factor because if the team gets through this change and starts winning, what happens when he gets hurt again because it is inevitable?…Back to square one
Not necessary to go through if the team is already winning.
