Rookie Rankings: Week 2

Each week NBAtoday.net compiles a list of the top 10 rookies in the NBA. Leave a comment on your top rookies of the 2009-2010 season!

Rookie Rankings1. Brandon Jennings – Jennings had a lot of turnovers this week but is still playing at a high level and has the Bucks at 3-2.
2. Jonny Flynn – Flynn is getting all the playing time he could imagine on such a lousy team and is very balanced with 14 ppg, 3 rpg and 3 apg.
3. Terrence Williams – It’s only a matter before Williams starts especially since they are down to just 8 players.  He is a do-it-all type player and a great draft pick.
4. Tyreke Evans – Evans is stepping his game up with Martin out for the next two months.  He had a career high 32 points the other night.
5. Ty Lawson – Apparantly Ty Lawson can shoot now, who’d-a thunk-it?
6. Stephen Curry – Curry took 21 shots in the 1st two games and just 11 in the last two.  He needs to get more involved in the offense I feel.
7. DeJuan Blair – After averaging over 20 mpg he played just 10 last game, took two shots and was held scoreless.
8. Chase Budinger – Budinger has gone under the radar, but with no one else to turn to, Budinger just gets in games and fires.  He scored 17 and 16 points in his last two games.
9. Taj Gibson – With Tyrus Thomas out for the next 4-6, I expect Gibson to turn it up a notch and chip in a lot more scoring.
10. Omri Casspri - Casspri is a 6’9″ shooting big man who can shoot 3′s and will get plenty of PT in the Kings offense.

Who almost made the cut: James Harden, DeMarre Carroll, Jodie Meeks

Chase Budinger should be higher on this list, he has a big role on the Rockets and constantly contributing to the team’s success. Oh, and he is a second round pick.

The reason he isn’t higher is because he was off the list last week and didn’t improve so much from week 1 to week 2 that he deserved to jump more than 5 spots. If he stays as good as he is he will move up but it’s tough (in my ranking system) to jump from off the list to a top 5 guy.

By the way, who messed up scouting him? This guy was big time from the second he graduated HS, I can’t believe he went so far in the draft.
