Rookie Rankings: Week 1
Each week NBAtoday.net compiles a list of the top 10 rookies in the NBA. Leave a comment on your top rookies of the 2009-2010 season!
1. Brandon Jennings – By far the best rookie averaging 20.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 6.0 apg. If he cuts down the TOs he will be a real nice franchise piece for the Bucks to hold onto.
2. Jonny Flynn – In this young season, Flynn has shown he has the most heard out of all these rookies. The kid is a beast and fights until the end. It helps that he is averaging 17.5 ppg and is 12-14 from the charity stripe.
3. Stephen Curry – Last year’s leading scorer in college is putting up 13 ppg and playing an amazing 37.5 mpg. We know he can play that much over a 30 game season, let’s see if he has 82 games in the tank.
4. DeJuan Blair – Blair is the biggest surprise rookie to me thus far. Average 8-8 thus far and is greatly undersized as a 6’6″ PF in the West. I look for his 70% FG to drop this coming week.
5. Terrence Williams – I was so pumped when the Nets drafted him and he hasn’t disappointed coming off the bench. He is averaging 10+ ppg and 5+ rpg. He needs to improve his FG% (currently below 40%).
6. Ty Lawson – He has filled in very nicely for the suspended JR Smith as a PG. Lawson has 10 assists and only 2 turnovers in 3 games thus far.
7. DeMar DeRozen – Effecient player averaging 22 mpg as a rookie starter with a 45 FG%, 100 FT% and only 1 turnover.
8. Taj Gibson – Gibson will see a lot of PT this year with a weak front court of the Bulls.
9. Tyreke Evans – Despite averaging 12+ ppg, 3 rpg and 3+ apg a 39 FG%, 19 3PT% and a 58 FT% is holding him back from cracking the top 5.
10. Omri Casspri - Evans’ teammate is benefiting from some of those assists and is putting up 8.7 ppg but with a very PF heavy team he will have to continue to fight for PT (averaging 18 mpg).
Who almost made the cut: Chase Budinger, DeMarre Carroll, Wayne Ellington

I guess no one is disputing my rookie rankings? Good to know. Looks like Chase Budinger was a little pissed off I had him at 11 on the list with his performance last night!
