The scrappy Knicks were able to hold off Chris Paul’s valiant attempt to steal a win at MSG on Monday night. Paul had 32 points and 13 assists but wasn’t enough to beat a Knicks who were starving for their first win of the season.

David Lee had 28 points to lead the Knicks on a night where they had three 20 point scorers. Al Harrington,24, and Larry Hughes, 20 were the other two, leading an all around balanced attack for the Knicks.

This is the second consecutive loss for the Hornets who’s weak bench has all ready been exploited early this season.

The Knicks were without their star guard Nate Robinson who could be out up to two weeks with a sprained ankle.

Play of the game- Chris Paul whips in a one handed bounce pass in between two stunned Knicks, to a cutting Emeka Okafor for the slam. Straight NASTY.

Bobcats 79, Nets 68

The New Jersey Nets managed to score only a dismal seven points in the third quarter and lost their fourth consecutive game to the Charlotte Bobcats Monday night. Ugly is the only way to classify this game as no team shot over 38% from the field and where both teams had at least 21 turnovers.

The Bobcats D.J. Augustine had 21 points off the bench and was the only real bright spot on the floor. As Augustine continues to fight for the starting position with Raymond Felton, the Bobcats may have found a second consistent scorer. Gerald Wallace also added 24 for the Bobcats as he continues his hot start to the season.

The Nets suffered more than just an ugly defeat as Yi Jianlian injured his left knee in the third quarter.  This is a huge blow to an all ready depleted team who are without last years leading scorer Devin Harris.

Stat of the game- Brook Lopez did manage to put up 18 points in 37 mins but also turned the ball over seven times…eww.

Eww is right, 7 turn overs for Lopez. I touched upon this in the podcast. He really needs to step it up especially with Harris out. He can definitely be a top 5 center in the NBA with 3 years of his 1st game. That alone is quite an accomplishment but it starts now so come on Brook STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

It’s sad that an injury to Yi is actually huge for the Nets.

Nets fan just grin and bare it and hope for this starting 5 in 2010.

    Devin Harris
    Courtney Lee
    Brook Lopez
    Lebron James
    Chris Bosh

    haha I can dream.

You know if Lebron comes he is gonna convince another superstar
free agent to hopefully come with him.
