Iverson Leaves the Grizzlies in Disgust

8 November 2009 204 views 7 Comments

On Saturday night, Memphis Grizzlies back up point guard Allen Iverson decided to take a personal day and fly to his home in Photo Courtesy of customauthenticjersey.comAtlanta to rethink his life. Iverson took off after a Saturday morning walkthrough following the teams 114-98 loss to the LA Lakers.

Due to the guard’s lack of playing time, Iverson is sick of not playing solid minutes or starting. He simply cannot fathom being a role player and is constantly arguing with Coach Lionel Hollins, making it very uncomfortable for the rest of the team. The Grizzlies are stacked with a plethora of talent: Michael Conley, Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, and Marc Gasol. Memphis’ veteran is none other than Zach Randolph to complete the starting lineup. The team has true potential to make some noise in the West. They aren’t going to make the playoffs, but they’re going to give the NBA’s best a run for their money on any given night. The team does not need to be distracted by the likes of an old-timer who can’t admit that he isn’t the player he once was.

Allen Iverson has been unbelievable throughout his career, being the little man with the big heart, and bringing his all every single night to get a victory. Now, his efforts are selfish, naive, and ignorant. Be a team player and support your franchise that gave you a chance. Hell, you weren’t even on a team until a month before the season started. His actions are childish and completely uncalled for. Nobody needs that. The Grizzlies do not need that and should left him go…immediately.

Allen, if you want to be at home, stay there. You don’t deserve to be in the NBA anymore. If you want to rethink your life and start over, the NBADL is always looking for players.

    Total unprofessional jackass.
I hope the Grizzlies cut him and no one gives him a chance.

I wonder what he’s thinking? Retirement maybe?

Speaking as a true A.I. supporter, I am truly disappointed by Iverson’s actions. It seems like he can’t let go of his ego and “keeping it real” mentality. He had everything thing handed to him on a silver platter w/ the Sixers and let his immaturity get in the way of that. Naturally, I want to see the guy do well, but when will he ever grow up?

Daina, I have no idea. I don’t think even AI knows when he will grow up, but I love your opinion on the matter.

He still does not realize the gifts that have been given to him throughout his career. It probably is best for him and the league to retire, but we’ll never know. Children are brats.
