Get well CDR, God knows the Nets need you

Chris Douglas-Roberts of the New Jersey Nets was recently diagnosed with the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus.  CDR is out indefinitely with the virus and hasn’t played since Wednesday night vs. the Nuggets.  On CDR’s twitter he said he was getting the chills during the game but thought nothing of it since they were playing basketball.  CDR’s Swine Flu is no longer contagious but he isn’t with the team and everyone is taking a Tamiflu pill for the next 10 days as a precaution.  The Nets now only have 8 eligable players due to all the injuries and remain winless on the season (0-7).

Kevin Martin of the Sacramento Kings is expected to be out for 8 weeks due to wrist surgery.  An MRI revealed a hairline fracture in Martin’s wrist after the loss to the Hawks on Wednesday.  He initially hurt his wrist in the game they won vs. the Grizzles when Martin dropped 48 points.  This is a HUGE hit to the Kings obviously, Martin was 3rd in the league averaging 30.6 points per game.  He seems to get injured every season and he always seems to average 25+ ppg too so it’s always a big deal when he gets hurt.  Martin was given the option to play through the pain but decided to not do any more damage and get the surgery.

Tyrus Thomas will be out 4-6 weeks after having left forearm surgery on Saturday.  Thomas broke his arm on Friday during a weight room session.  That has to suck, hurting yourself while lifting weights.  This is a big blow to the Bulls who are in need of some front-court help to begin with.  Thomas was averging 8.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg and the Bulls are now down to just 10 healthy players.
