‘Big Shot Jack’ Shipped to Charlotte

16 November 2009 522 views 6 Comments

In a move that should surprise no one, disgruntled Stephen Jackson was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats in a 2-for-2 player swap. Charlotte will also recieve reserve guard Acie Law, while they will send Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. The Warriors wanted to get talent in return of trading Jackson, but this was going to be a hard task as every single team knew that they wanted to get rid off him.

The Bobcats win by adding a scorer to their anemic offense. The Warriors win by getting rid of a distraction, and opening up room for the ridiculous amount of guards on their team. On the financial side, Raja Bell’s 5 million dollar contract will be off the books following the season.

Warriors Receive:                                                                          Bobcats Receive:

Property of NBA Raja Bell  (1yr left; $5.2M)                                    Property of NBA Big Shot Jack (4yrs left; $7-11M)

Property of NBA Vladdy   (2 yrs left; $2.6M)                                   Property of NBA Acie Law (1yr left; $2.1M)

Who do you think got the better end of this deal?

I think Stephen Jackson can help propel this team to the playoffs. I think this takes less pressure off of Gerald Wallace to shoot (great slasher, bad jump shooter) and he can focus on driving and dishing to Jackson for 3.

I think this will benefit the Bobcats even though they have Jackson for the next 4 years pending any trades.

I really think Golden State improves the most from this deal. Stephen Jackson wanted out and wasn’t going to shut up until he was moved. Distraction taken care of. Also Raja Bell, moving back west in a run and gun offense, will show signs of what you saw of him on those good suns teams of a few years ago. Plus GSW frees up a little bit of cap space for the big free agent summer of 2010.

I agree with Sean, this move benefits the Warriors big time. Not only did they gt rid of the distraction, but they recieve two run and gun shooters as well. And Why was Acie Law in this trade? How is he going to play with DJ Augustin and Raymond Felton running the show?

Basher, Stephen Jackson is a better version of Ricky Davis, he will give you some good games and fill out the stat sheet, but his attitude is terrible and is always been a distraction to a team’s chemistry if their not winning. Charlotte goes nowhere with this move.

I wonder how many teams Big Shot Jack will end up playing for when it’s all said and done. I’ll take him in Philly!
