Charles Barkley has said some dumb things in his broadcasting career and usually speaks without thinking, which is what makes him so funny. But his comments about the Knicks and how they are treating the summer of 2010 hit the nail on the head.  Barkley totally disagrees with Donnie Walsh’s theory of basically sucking for two years and dumping a lot of cap by not re-signing or signing anyone to get better is NOT the best way to get LeBron.  Honestly, who does agree with that other than a few selfish Knicks fans?

What kind of message is that sending to LeBron?  I can only imagine, ‘Hey King James, we only play when we feel like it, or on your teams.  Actually it’s totally up to you, just give us (the Knicks) a call from Cleveland and let us know what play we should run next in HOPES that you sign with us next year.’  I don’t think so!  That’s not how it works Donnie.  Barkley later goes on to say, “The Knicks don’t have a good team.  I think waiting to do all the free agency thing has hurt the camaraderie and chemistry on the team. Those guys aren’t dumb. They know they’re not going to be around.”

Dont count your chickens before they hatch Donnie

Like I said, Barkley is 100% right and I hope LeBron stiffs the Knicks (and goes to the Nets, naturally).  That is no way to conduct a team by anymeans.  The way free agency is today and the money some of these guys are after you can’t bank on a player signing anywhere.
